Ready to add a user to Google Analytics? This step-by-step guide will show you how to give someone read/write access to your Google Analytics account in less than 5 min.
Step 1: Login to Google Analytics
Go to Google Analytics and sign in using your Google account credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to Account Settings
- After logging in, select the property (website or app) you want to share access to.
- Scroll to the bottom of the left navigation and click Admin.
Step 3: Open the Access Management Panel
Click on Account Access Management or Property Access Management (depending on where you want to assign access).
- Account Access Management grants access to all properties under the account.
- Property Access Management grants access only to the selected property.
Step 4: Add a New User
- Click the + button in the top-right corner and select Add Users.
- Enter chelseaandrachelco@gmail.com to provide our agency with access.
Note: You can only add users that have a Google account (i.e ...@gmail.com)
Step 5: Assign Permissions
- Choose the appropriate permission level. For our work, we will need you to choose the “editor” role so we will have read/write access.
- Check "Notify new users by email" so we will get a confirmation email from you.
Here is an overview of permission levels:
- Viewer: View data but not edit it.
- Analyst: Perform actions like creating dashboards and reports.
- Editor: Edit settings and configurations for the property.
- Admin: Full control, including managing users and settings.
- Publishers (optional, for GA4 only): Share changes with others.
Step 6: Confirm and Save
- After assigning the necessary permissions, click Add.
- We will get an email notification and can access the account.
Troubleshooting
- If the user doesn’t receive an email, make sure the address is correct and associated with a Google account.
- If you don’t see the "Add Users" option, ensure you have Admin permissions for the account or property.
